Bio of Steve Combs

Steve Combs is Assistant Director of Bearing Precious Seed Global and assisted Steve Zeinner in founding the organization.  Steve Combs is an ordained Baptist preacher and a CPA. He has a number of years experience in business and has spent about nine years as controller of a mid-sized non-profit charitable organization.  He is a graduate of Cedarville University. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree from Covington Theological Seminary and will soon have a Doctor of Ministry degree.   He has served in numerous ministry capacities. He has been a youth pastor in Springfield, Ohio and an associate pastor in two churches in Dayton, Ohio.   He was pastor of a Baptist church in Vandalia, Ohio for several years. For some years, he served as a teacher and then as academic dean of a Bible believing Baptist Bible institute. He also spent three years in Germany where he ministered to German youth and US military personnel.   Steve Combs is the author of Must We Translate? Every Word for Every People and  Regions Beyond-The Task of Missions in the Twenty-First Century.

Brother Combs' greatest passion is church planting and Bible translating among smaller unreached people groups and among major language groups.  He wishes to recruit as many independent Baptist missionaries as possible to do this work and to assist them in their training and their ministry.  He feels that the smaller people groups (less than 10,000 to over 5 million in population) have been severely neglected by independent Baptists.  There are thousands of groups and millions of people who have nothing of the word of God.  Many larger people groups have a different problem.  While they have usually received more evangelism, they generally have inadequate or corrupt Bible versions in their language.  There is much need to revise these Bibles for the larger language groups, so that they can have the pure word of God. At the same time, we must enlarge our efforts to translate the Bible and start churches among the smaller language groups.
