Ministry Brief

This ministry itself is called Grace Education Ministry. We chose the name "GEM" because Grace is freely given to us, then we should also freely give the things that we received from God (1Peter.4:10).

In Myanmar, the estimated percentage of Buddhists is 89%, dominated by the omnipresent Theravada Buddhism, Christians 6%, Islam 2.5%, Hindus 0.5%, and animists and others 2%. Therefore, to start ministry work in Myanmar means working among the Buddhist.

Myanmar is regarded by many Christians as a "closed" country because of the antagonism that the military government has toward evangelical Christianity.  There is some overt persecution, and considerable disadvantage to Christians.

Nothing in the world is comparable to serving the Lord. God's words touch me deeply. Why can I ignore the CALLING of God to serve Him? I am determined to

be a soul winning and the one who trains others to do the same work. The main emphasis and priority in this ministry is to win the lost, whatever it causes.

My vocation goal and objective is to start: (1) Orphanages Ministry and (2) Child Care Ministry.

A. Orphanages ministry:  Since the country itself is getting worse, there are many people eat once meal in a day even in Yangon city. There are many orphans and children who having no guardians are increasing day by day.

As the government officially tried to proclaim the Buddhism for the national religion in the country, they help (e.g. Providing primary schools, opening kinder-gardens, Orphanage boarder and Children education among the Christians). Some Christian poor people (e.g. my home town) turned them into their religion. Presently my government (Myanmar) does not recognize Christian orphanages, so we must receive 100% of our support from outside the country.

B. Child Care ministry: People will not understand our how much we love them unless they understand how much we care. In the mean time we are to let them

know the caring is not the primary priority rather it is the way that we made for the Gospel. Our message also should be simplified for them to bring the easier way of understanding. The reason of government school teachers' small income, they emphasize private institutes outside the school. It means poor students can not go to study in there because of their lack of tuition fees. We are to help their needs in times of difficulties and trouble. Many children in Myanmar are eagerly waiting for our care.

Strategies to fulfill this GEM statement

1. To Win the Lost Souls:

Approximately 89% are Buddhist and over 300,000 Buddhist monks live in monasteries throughout the country. They are very active to spread Buddhism to the whole regions. Therefore, to start ministry work in Myanmar means working among the Buddhist. So we are to know their cultural and traditional practices, the way they live and behave. We can draw their attention when we testify our Gospel message by entering in their cultural contact.

Simple stories can be helpful for us to make them understand. Since to win the souls is important to care and nourish the new converts until they are matured in faith also important.

To have one more saved person is the only greatest fulfillment of the Lord's commission. So there are different ways how we can get more saved souls

and convert the unbelievers.

2. English and Korean language class:

It is very hard to proclaim and to share the Gospel among them. But most of the parents want their children to know English language. They are looking for good English Training School.  It does not matter for them whether Christian school or not. Their children are allowed only to learn English in our school but we can share the Gospel during the class. Therefore, English class is the effective way to share the Good News.  Now a day, the Korean films have been showed in the TV every evening in Myanmar. As the result, young people are eagerly to learn both Korean culture and language.

Therefore, if we teach Korean, we can draw many young men and women to Jesus Christ. It is the great opportunity to persuade unbelievers' children. The first step is to win the children's souls and next step is their parents' souls.  The textbook and the material of teaching must be based on the Bible.

3. Basic Computer class:

We are to share the gospel, to give what we have and to care the needy in order to make them received our message.   As far as the advancement of technology is concern, it is mandatory for us to know some basic of computer science.  Unfortunately, we are behind the advancement of technology, we can not even effort to buy a single piece of computer in our own house.  It is necessary to introduce basic computer class in order to success our ministry.

4. Evening Bible Study Class:

The Word of God is the only tool for teaching, disciplines and educates young children. We teach the children how to respect their parents and teachers, also elders. Also it is for changing life and promoting one's life into God's purposes. In the other hand no one is able to change the way they live until they first know the better way or until they know they are wrong. Knowing all this facts, we also a plan to start Evening Bible Study.

5. Education without the Bible is deficient:

The Bible shows that education is good. "Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6). This means that spiritual education is important.  In Myanmar, education is based on the secular principle (Buddhist religion), which means that Myanmar education is moving from Biblical teaching. "If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Psalm 11:3).

All activities, teachings and leadings young people in this GEM must based on the Bible. As Myanmar is a dark land in desperate need of the gospel, we wanted to be a light to bring the gospel to people who have never heard the Good news.  I believe that one of the most effective ways to reach the lost is to train others to do the work as I myself am doing it now. As I dedicated, God will determine my future ministry and use me wherever He wants. All I have to do is READY.

You will enable a child to escape the hopeless cycle of poverty. You will point him or her to Jesus Christ as the only answer to the problems of this life and the only hope for eternity.

In Christ,
